Watergas Project

The Industrial Gas Museum at Technopolis, City of Athens, presents the group exhibition “Watergas Project,” a visual arts project bringing contemporary art into dialogue with the industrial space and its history. From October 16 to 29, 2026, at Technopolis of the City of Athens in the New Water Gas Building, 13 artworks by artists aged 18 to 35 are on display, highlighting connections between contemporary artistic creation, industrial history, and the traces of productive activity. The works were selected through an open call held last June. At the heart of the exhibition is the New Gas Plant, the newest building in the industrial complex, which has retained its original industrial equipment almost intact. Video art, installations, sculptures, and paintings interact with the machinery and the building’s architecture. Water and coal, the basic raw materials for the production of coal gas, reappear in the works as both physical materials and symbolic elements. Participants: Hector Vassiliou, Theano Giannezi, Katerina Giannopoulou, Iliana-Eustathia Dioti, Leda Zacharopoulou, Danae Nikolaidi, Anni Xenodochidi, Sofia Xoulidou, Georgia-Maria Papoutsi, Andreas Plemenos, Zacharias Siagas, Vasilia Sofronidou, Iris Florou. Venue: Industrial Gas Museum, Building: New Water Gas Plant, Technopolis of the City of Athens. Days and hours of operation: Monday–Sunday, 12:00–20:00. Opening: Monday, October 19, 2026, 7:30 p.m. (free admission). Admission: 2€. Tickets: More.com. For more information: gasmuseum@athens-technopolis.gr.
